Valentine’s Day For Married Couples

Friday, February 11th, 2011
It’s Valentine’s day and the air is filled with love and roses .. Mostly as the years pass by married couples dont bother to do anything special for their partner! Sometimes they think that they are too old for all these.   Well, most of the time, we think its because people lose interest in each other over the years, when actually  that may not be the case. Mostly it’s because people try so hard to fit themselves in this fast  paced world that they forget where they were heading to in the first place. And their loved ones are lost somewhere in the crowd. It’s these special days that are around that could remind you to do something special for him or her and tell them how much they actually mean to you even though you don’t say it as much everyday. And what better day for couples than the Valentine’s Day itself!  Who wouldn’t have a little place for some real love and fun. It doesn’t mean expensive dinners or diamond rings all the time , unless you could really afford it. It can be kept simple and yet special in easy ways..
roseFor instance wifes could make some special candle light dinners at home …It doesnot always have to be expensive restaurant dinners. Set beautiful tables. Put on some music. Be creative. Put kids to bed early!
You can travel down the memory lane over dinner. But remember not to go too far and end up fighting at the dinner table.Mostly these conversations end up in talks like how fun they used to be then and how grumpy you have grown over the years. So try and be pleasant. Flip through some old pictures. Watch your favourite movie together at home.
And guys could buy her some flowers or a card that mentions how much she means to him. Keep it over her bedside. Make her a breakfast. Give her a day off cooking. Take her out for dinner if you can afford or a plain icecream would be as lovely too. You can take her out for movies or take her to a beach side walk which would cost you nothing. Some  gifts for her could include books if she loves to read, handbags  perfumes or even candies!
Think of anything that she would love, not what you love!
Little things matter in life , you just dont say it always. Everybody loves to be pampered once in a while.  Valentines Day is just the right time to show your love how much you care!
Sometimes its not just enough to have love in your heart, you need to show it!  So dont just sit there on the  couch, lazy  bored, feeling all old and blue.  You dont have to wait for your partner to take the first step. All that matters is having fun with each other! Start feeling young all over again and give a new meaning to your marriage  this Valentine’s Day!

Managing stress at work place.

Thursday, July 1st, 2010

Stress at work is one of the leading causes of health and psychological problems today especially in these downside times of economy.  There is a major difference between challenges and stress when it comes to profession. People enjoy challenges , though it may require some hard work it gives pleasure and satisfaction. It doesnot drain your energy or mood. Stress on the other hand is an hinderance to success. It can cause emotional issues like loss of interest , social withdrawal , family issues , temper , frustrations  or physical problems like high pressure backaches , stomach problems and many other.

There are a number of ways one can cope with this stress at work  . Though many of us know  all this , it doesnt occur to us to try them. It stays as one of those problems that has solutions but one doesnt try out. It may be hard to ask somebody to quit such jobs and try a new one especially due to financial reasons but there are other alternatives to relieve this stress at work place .

One of the best solutions to relieve stress of any kind is walking away from the situation . Now at work place this is not often possible but one can always walk away for a short while. Give some time to yourself. Get some air. This doesnt mean go out and smoke. Smoking will only increase your problems . Go for a walk at your luch time . This gives relaxation to both body and mind. Also perspiration is a great stress reliever. It can alleviate your mood and give you lot of energy to think straight. Go for some work out after work hours.

Sometimes being alone for a while relieves lot of stress.  Find some clean place like a beach or park or view some pleasant sight or listen to some music after work hours .  All this doesnt require lot of time . Five minutes may be all that you need.

Do something that you enjoy like going for a drive or knitting or reading.

Some jobs demand more work time and going for work outs may not be an option. In such cases relax your mind closing your eyes by breathing in deeply and slowly exhaling for atleast five minutes.

Sleep well. This relaxes your mind and gives you lot of energy.

To relieve stress the best way is to focus on the cause of stress. Prioritise the issues. Is it really worth all the stress? Is it something you can sort by talking to someone or getting help. Never accept more work load then you actually can deliver. Talk to your boss if thats an option. Due to the increased lay offs there are lot of places where the works usually done by three or four people are now served by fewer.  This leads to more pressure workload and time constraints. In these situations prioritising the tasks helps greatly. Get help from friends and let go of ego.

Sometimes a good laugh helps relieve all tension.

A clean environment is a great stress reliever.  Organise your stuffs. Dress up well . Give some time to pamper yourself .

Good communication and healthy relationships with coworkers is yet another important factor when  it comes to work. There should be no place for ego . Give your best to any work .  Negetivity and worrying will not lessen your problems instead result in more problems .

Always remember, things may go wrong but its not the end of anything. After all everyday is a new day!  Expect for the best and give in your best!

Face book offers vanity URL

Friday, June 12th, 2009

Face book the most outstanding social networking system today has announced that vanity URL will be available to all profiles and fan pages at 12:01 EST on the 13th of June 2009. This means that the usual code facebook.com/profile.php?id=abcxyz where abcxyz were numbers will be replaced using an username, and the name is going to be on a first come first serve basis. The name should be at least five characters and include alpha numeric characters eg: facebook.com/first name. This way the search engine will direct you to your face book page first. User profiles created today after 3 pm will not be eligible.

Now users can find you more easily! So visit Facebook.com/username to claim a vanity URL. The URL cannot be changed once selected. So there is definitely going to be a rush with all the millions of face book users to grab names of their choice once they go live tonight especially common names like john brown.

While it opens up lot of opportunities on one hand there seems to be lot of speculations about how users will react to this once face book goes live tonight. It does make connecting easier and compete with other social networks like Twitter but there seems to be concerns about privacy.

Relief from Allergies – Myth or Reality

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Are you having a runny nose and itchy and watery eyes? Are you having sneezing bouts and that tingling at the back of your throat? These are the most common symptoms of allergy.

I have been reading up to find out ways to get relief from these common allergy symptoms and thought that I will share it here. I am hoping that it might be of help to someone.

Here is a list of the most effective ways to find relief from common allergies.

Use Nasal Sprays and Nasal Strips

Nasal Sprays help to clear the nasal passages. Nasal Strips help to gently open nasal passages and helps with breathing through your nose, thereby reducing snoring.

Take care when using Vacuum Cleaners

When vacuuming or dusting, remember to always wear a mask to prevent inhaling any dust that will stir up your allergy.

It is a must to vacuum your bed once a month with a good vacuum cleaner to remove dead skin. An accumulation of dead skin in your mattress will breed a colony of dust mites, which are another source of irritation. Get rid of feather pillows, which are yet another source of dust mites.

Use Dehumidifiers

Dehumidifiers remove moisture from the air and reduce humidity. They can be helpful with respiratory problems and help with mould allergies. Choose one that can be easily cleaned and runs quiet.

Invest in Air Filters

Since air quality is very important to those suffering from allergies it is wise to invest in a good quality air filter. If you have central heating in your home be sure to get a good quality furnace filter and have your furnace serviced at least once every two years.

Choose correct Bedding

Take care to pick up bedding and pillows made from material like cotton, wool, or silk that are non-synthetic and doesn’t irritate the skin.

Allergy Medications

Some allergies need you to see your doctor as you may require a prescription. Your doctor can help you identify whether you need anti-histamine, decongestant or a nasal spray.

Natural Allergy Remedies

Natural remedies given below are also worth giving a try.

1. Mangosteen juice has been making headlines lately in helping to remove allergy symptoms.

2. Practice deep breathing

3. Drink lots of water

4. Have a daily walk in the morning

5. Avoid too much oily & fatty foods

Now , what do YOU suggest for allergy relief?
